Charter & Policies Please Read Our Charter, Before Applying for Membership

[top]Downloading & Installing
You may download the Ventrilo client and read installation instructions from the Ventrilo web site.

[top]Configuring

Before connecting to our server, you must first configure a few options in your Vent client.
  • Follow steps 1 through 4 on this page.
  • When choosing your User Name in Ventrilo, you must use the name of your character. This makes it much easier for those listening to you.

[top]Connecting
Now you are ready to connect to our Ventrilo server. You may do this automatically or manually.

[top]Automatically

Most members are able to automatically connect to our server; however, if you are unable to do so, you will need to follow the manual steps.

There is a box on the right-hand side of our homepage that displays who is logged on to our Vent server. As a member, you also see a "Join Server" link at the bottom of that box. Click the "Join Server" link and it will launch Vent for you and connect. You only need to do this step once. You must have completed steps 1 - 4 of the above Quick Setup Guide for this to work.

[top]Manually

If you are unable to connect automatically, you will need to follow steps 5 through 12 from the "Quick Client Setup" guide.

Here is the information you'll need:
  • Hostname: uranium.typefrag.com
  • Port: 36329
Please see an officer or member for the server password.

[top]Additional Ventrilo Tips

[top]Voice Overlay

Voice overlay boxes show you who is speaking while in Vent. These work best with the game in Windowed mode, as they can obscure portions of your in-game screen.

[top]Built-In Overlay

Version 3.0 has a built in overlay feature. It tends to be a little large, but seems to work with most operating systems.

To enable the built-in overlay, click the Setup button on the Ventrilo window, then click the Overlay tab. Click the Enable Overlay Support checkbox.

[top]Third-Party Applications

There are several free software applications which you may wish to use in place of the built-in overlay.

These overlays are much less intrusive and very customizable, but do tend to have problems with some operating systems.

[top]Normalizing Volume

You may normalize everyone's volume to the same level by following these steps:
  1. Click the "Setup" button
  2. In the "Voice" tab, click the "SFX" button
  3. In the "Sound effects" section, highlight "Compressor" and click the "<- Add" button
  4. Set "Gain" to 15, "Attack" to 0.01, "Release" to 500, "Threshold" to -30, "Ratio" to 100.0, and "Pre delay" to 4.0
  5. Click the "OK" button on the "Compressor" window
  6. Click the "OK" button on the "Special Effects: Setup-Voice" window
  7. Click the "OK" button on the "Setup" window
