EPGP stands for Effort Points/Gear Points. Effort Points (EP) quantify the effort each member puts forth; where as Gear Points (GP) quantify what loot each member got back in return. Loot priority (PR) is calculated as the quotient of the two (PR = EP/GP).
The person with the higher PR gets the first say on loot. As a result, the more effort you put forth the more gear you receive. EPGP is based on this simple principle, but there are some complexities that need to be dealt with which will be covered below.

[top]Point Values
Please note: We intend to adjust GP values for level 61-65 items, if/when the EPGP tracking software is able to be updated to accommodate such changes.
Effort Points (EP)
| Raid | Event | Difficulty | EP Value |
|---|
| Barad Guldur | 20 Minutes in Raid | N/A | 1 |
| Barad Guldur | Boss Defeat | Normal | 1 |
| Barad Guldur | Boss Defeat | Challenge | 2 |
Gear Points (GP)
| Item Type | Item Rarity | GP Value |
|---|
| Set Piece | Rare | 30 |
| Set Piece | Incomparable | 33 |
| Set Piece | Epic | 36 |
| Legendary Item | Second Age | 33 |
| Legendary Item | First Age | 36 |
[top]Complexities of the System
To ensure the loot system behaves reasonably, not only in its steady state, but also when new members join, the following additional parameters are set up.
In order to award recent effort more than past effort, which in effect avoids PR hoarding for veterans and enables new coming and dedicated members of a guild to be awarded properly, EPGP supports a decay mechanism. Decay simply removes a chunk of EP and GP from the totals. For example with a decay of 10% applied each week, for each 7 days that pass your effort's rewards get diminished by 10%. The effort you put 10 weeks ago will only be worth 34.8% of what it did when you received it ( (1-0.1)10).
[top]Base EP & GP
Base EP & GP allow new members to have Priority, immediately, by automatically adding a set Base EP & & GP value to each member. This means the final EP of each member is the sum of their BaseEP + EarnedEP, and their final GP is the sum of their BaseGP and their EarnedGP . All PR computations happen on those sums, and not merely base or earned values. Decay applies to EPGP as a whole; however, it only diminishes earned values, and not base values. As such neither EP or GP can ever be lower than their base values. For example, say we have BaseGP = 30 and RealGP = 30. Applying a 10% decay will result in RealGP = 27 for a total of 57 GP.
[top]General Rules
Unless otherwise stated, the following rules apply during all Official Raids.
- The raid leader must link EPGP eligible items to raid chat.
- If PuG members are present, any participant may roll on items which are an upgrade (at the raid leader's discretion) for the character in attendance. If a PuG member doesn't win the roll, the item will be distributed between kinship members via EPGP, as usual.
- Members must meet any class/level requirements for items they obtain via EPGP.
- If members with priority pass on items, whoever has the next highest priority may claim them.
- If two or more participants with the same priority want an item, a roll will be used to break the tie.
- If all participants pass on an EPGP eligible item which is BOA, it will be distributed via NBG; however, if the item is BOE, it will be mailed to Maighdeann to add to the Kinship Treasury.
- The raid leader is responsible for making sure that EPGP information is tracked accurately and posted to the event thread directly following the event. Members must report any discrepancies prior to the following Wednesday, when decay is applied to the EPGP database.
