[top]Founding Vision

Grace of the Valar is a Lord of the Rings Online kinship on the Landroval server. It was founded on October 2, 2007 by Maighdeann and Aruen. Their vision was for it to become one of the most established, successful and respected end-game focused kinships. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our members we've managed to achieve it; however, we wish to make it clear their motivation comes from their own enjoyment of the game and sense of pride in our kinship, rather than the sort of pressure often found in more "hardcore" kinships. While many of us have become good friends adventuring together in Middle-earth the past two and half years, we understand this is just a game, and we all have more important responsibilities and commitments. To help our members better enjoy their time spent with friends in-game, the Founders have put a great deal into providing the best resources available outside of the game and maintaining a well-organized and respectful environment.

[top]Organization

[top]Leadership

The Founders are responsible for raid coordination and scheduling, recruitment, guild policy and representing the Kinship on all fronts. It is their duty to appoint qualified Officers and, with their input, determine the direction of the Kinship. Officers assist with some of the day to day responsibilities of leadership and with enforcing Kinship policy. They may not deviate from official policy or enforce rules not explicitly mentioned. In addition to that, the Senior Officer is second in command to the Founders and leader in their absence.

[top]Membership

Our members are mature, organized, highly dedicated, extremely skillful and adventurous. They share more in common than a Kinship tag – they are friends and hunting partners.

[top]Code of Conduct

Members must adhere to the following:
  • Turbine's End User License Agreement (EULA).
  • The terms of agreement to register on this web site, and our forum rules.
  • Respect other players, and keep personal disputes private, at all times.
  • Refrain from excessively strong language on this website, Ventrilo, and kinship chat.
  • Update "away from game status" and other details in user profile, when necessary.
  • Read kinship announcements and policy updates.
A player who violates the Code of Conduct may be warned by an Officer, but some particularly serious violations or repeated violations can result in other sanctions, such as reduced privileges or dismissal from the Kinship, without warning. In addition, leadership reserves the right to delete posts or entire web site accounts as we see fit, without warning, for certain violations.

Messages may be logged and may be reviewed at any time and for any reason, including, without limitation, to assist in making decisions regarding violations of the Code of Conduct. This includes, but is not limited to, private messages.

[top]How to Apply

Interested parties who meet the following requirements are encouraged to register on this web site (please use your character's first name only) and submit an application. After doing so, please wait to be contacted in-game.
  • Must be over 18 years of age, and have a level 65 character of a class we're recruiting (see home page). Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis, with prior approval from Leadership.
  • Must have a character name which is fitting for Middle-earth (this applies to all characters).
  • Must not have previously applied, within the past 30 days.
All new members start as recruits for their first 30 days. During this time, they're expected to make every effort to interact with and get to know other members. After their recruitment period, they're prompted via the web site to post an application for "full" membership. A poll is automatically generated when this has been submitted, and full members will be able to vote on their continued status within the kinship.

[top]Communication

Members are encouraged to make frequent use of the Kinship web site and Ventrilo1 server.

1Ventrilo is required for official raid events, so members are encouraged to download the client, at their earliest opportunity. Please see our how to guide for instructions.

Members are welcome to schedule non-raid events, which conform to the our forum rules. Only the Founders may schedule raids, unless prior approval has been received (see here).
